Glass in the Garden

The glass sculptors Hayhoe Designs have for the past few years been regular exhibitors at Chelsea Flower Show – I always pay a visit to their stand.DSCF0975

A client recently asked me about incorporating glass sculpture in her garden to give a vertical accent and focal point, so this year I went to take a closer look at their range of products.

Standing firmly in the ground these Mondrian like glass works are beautiful and, as each piece is individually made, quite unique. Bespoke pieces are available depending on the colours you like or to fit a particular location in the garden or indeed indoors.

This year I decided to buy one for my own garden and this week it arrived! The sturdily packed box would defy anyone to damage the contents!

Sited in a raised border with alliums and box hedging to tone with the purples and greens in the glass panel the sculpture changes with the light and even looks great on a dull day and is a lasting reminder of Chelsea 2013.
